If you’re planning to create YouTube video slides using WordPress slider plugin Featured Articles PRO, you will first need to enter the required API Server Key that will enable the plugin to query YouTube API for videos.

Create a new Google project

To get your API key for YouTube data API you need a Google account and you need to access the Google console. Once you click the link, you will be taken to your Google projects page; if you don’t have any existing projects just create a new project.

After you will click the Create Project button highlighted above, a modal window will open asking for your project details.

Once your project is created, simply enter it by clicking the name you chose for it.

Enable YouTube API in your project

After you enter your Google project you will have to enable YouTube Data API in order to be able to use the project’s credentials to query YouTube videos. From the left menu go to APIs & auth and then APIs. Once you reach the APIs page, filter by searching YouTube and select YouTube Data API v3 from the APIs presented by the console.

Once inside the API administration screen, click Enable API button.

Generate the API credentials

Having YouTube Data API enabled, you can go on and generate the API key that will be used when you create YouTube video slides.
To do this, from the left menu go to APIs & auth and select Credentials. Once you reach the credentials page, under Public API access click Create new Key button.

After clicking Create new Key button the interface will open a modal window having several options. From the available options, choose Server key.

Next, you will have the option to enter a list of IP addresses that are allowed to query the APIs using this server key. If you don’t know your server IP address just leave this field empty and click Create button.

Last step into the process is to copy the API key generated by the console and enter it into the plugin’s Settings page, tab YouTube API, option YouTube API key.
